"The Villages Orchestra (formerly the Villages String Orchestra), a performing group comprised solely of Villages residents, has been in existence since 2007 and is conducted by Mr. Kenneth Hay.  We are a full orchestra with all components including strings, winds and percussion.  We perform four concerts a year, past performances having raised funds for Operation Shoe Box and Holiday Countdown which benefits Food Pantries, Relay for Life and Toys for Tots.  We perform a variety of styles and periods of music from Classical, Popular, Broadway, Musicals, Operas to Swing.  We encourage all orchestral string musicians of intermediate high school/college experience and above to come join us in a fun, relaxed setting.  Presently there is a need for percussionists with intermediate/advanced reading abilities.  We meet on Tuesdays at Laurel Manor Rec Center from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  Prospective new members may attend weekly rehearsals until comfortable with concert performances.  Orchestra members can assist in finding rental instruments for those who no longer own one.  This is an opportunity to regain your skills in a relaxed atmosphere.  Music is provided, bring stands.  For information, call Emilie Hickman at 259-6662 or Claudia Klinefelter at 765-891-0994."
